難病の筋萎縮性側索硬化症(ALS)だと診断され、筋力の衰えから日常生活も困難になり、人生の終焉を意識したころ、自分が抱いていた夢を叶えるために行動を起こしました。

　何をしたかというと、クリスピークリームドーナツ社のトラック運転手の求人への応募です。しかし、残念ながら結果はダメでした。

　会話も不自由になりつつある様子がはっきりわかる状態で、彼は語ります。

　「まあダメだと思ったけど、次に考えたのは、警察に捕まらないように、何とかやっちゃうことだな、と。トラックを盗むんです。」
